January opens the book.
It does not open the orchard.
No fruit to taste. A port, a variety, and a carton count. The first European fair is still a month away.
The season-open call is the first working conversation of the mango year. Bookings open on 1 January. There is no fruit. There is no hot-water cycle to watch. The job is to name the variety, the cartons, and the discharge port so a proforma can exist before Sindhri closes in mid-March and Chaunsa closes at the end of April.
Buyers who wait for Fruit Logistica in February are still inside both books, but they have spent a month. Buyers who wait for a summer festival are buying spot fruit. Use January if you already know the program. Use a sample only if you do not.
What to decide in the hour
Three blanks. Leave the rest for the proforma.
Variety
Sindhri from Mirpur Khas, or Chaunsa from Multan. White Chaunsa is the late fruit and still belongs in the April book if you want a reefer. Do not ask for “Pakistani mango” and expect us to choose.
Path
UK sea Chaunsa, UK air for Sindhri and Ratol, Gulf sea, Canada air via Dubai, or USA air via Dubai irradiation. Say the path. Sea mango to the USA will be refused in January exactly as it is refused in July.
Cartons
A full reefer is about 4,800 cartons. Air and LCL start near 500. Private label is about four containers and needs artwork 60 days before the first ship. If you cannot say a number, you are not opening a book. You are asking for a brochure.
Rice and onion can wait, or not
Milled rice does not need 1 January. If rice is the real subject, book a rice call and do not dress it as a mango opening. Onion’s window is November to March, so January is the middle of the bulb season, not the start of a mango tree. Split the calls.
