Fresh onion
is heading 0703.10.
Mesh bags of 10, 20, or 25 kg. A reefer holds about 25 metric tons. Shallots, powder, and dried flakes are not in the bag.
Fresh or chilled onions and shallots share heading 0703.10. Zarkaar ships onion, not shallots. The invoice says onion, the colour, and the size band. Red export bulbs are 60–80 mm. White bulbs are 50–70 mm and milder. Origin is Sindh and Balochistan. We do not grow them in Multan.
Dried onion, powder, and flakes are later headings in the tariff and a factory we do not run. We will not declare powder as fresh onion. An 80 mm white bulb is outside the published white band. Ask before you write it into a contract.
The commercial facts the heading does not carry
Size, cure, and destination live in the contract. The heading only opens the file.
Cure and temperature
Bulbs are cured 7–10 days, then held at 0–4°C. That is colder than mango, which is why the two never share a booking. Mesh is 10, 20, or 25 kg. One 40-foot reefer is about 25 metric tons.
Where the bulbs go
The live winter program is UAE and Qatar, November through March. Malaysia and Indonesia are named lanes, and their import rules are not the same. We do not invent the permit text. Singapore is not a desk. Saudi buyers ask before any Jeddah plan. Onion is not on the Saudi market-page list.
Papers that travel with the heading
Phytosanitary, Halal where the destination requires it, and the Karachi Chamber origin certificate. Onion does not get the rice lab sheet, and it does not get the grain fumigation certificate. Hot-water treatment is a mango step. It is not used to “upgrade” a bulb.
Season against the shows
October meetings in Europe are a forward book for November bulbs, not a warehouse of packed onion we can sail that week. March shows in Dubai sit at the tail of the season. If you need December arrival, say so in October. A heading on a worksheet does not create stock.
The Multan counter does not retail export mesh to the public as a kissan product. Farmers buy fertiliser, seed, and feed there. Onion for a ship is an export file.
