Milled rice
is heading 1006.30.

Basmati, Super Kernel, 1121, IRRI-6, and IRRI-9 are contracts. They are not five invented tariff headings. Paddy stays in Pakistan.

Zarkaar ships milled rice. The international heading for semi-milled or wholly milled rice is 1006.30. The invoice names the grade the contract actually is: basmati, Super Kernel, 1121, IRRI-6, or IRRI-9. The mill is in Punjab. We do not own that mill.

Paddy sits under 1006.10 and is not our cargo. Husked brown rice sits under 1006.20 and is not the offer on our variety pages. Broken rice is heading 1006.40, and we use it only when the contract is for broken rice. A maximum broken percentage inside a head-rice contract does not move the lot into 1006.40.

Grade is the contract, heading is the filing

Buyers lose weeks when a lab sheet and a worksheet disagree.

Basmati sheet

Length on the premium basmati sheet is about 7.5–8.4 mm. Moisture is 14 percent maximum. Broken grain on that premium sheet is 4 percent maximum. Super Kernel is the longer grain, and that sheet holds broken grain to 3 percent. These are quality limits inside milled rice. They are not a licence to file the cargo as broken rice.

IRRI volume

IRRI-6 and IRRI-9 are the volume grades. Kenya and Tanzania are named separately, and a bulk stem starts at 5,000 metric tons. Iraq and Yemen are grade notes, not desks and not aid contracts. The heading stays milled rice unless the contract truly is broken rice.

Pack that changes paperwork, not the heading

Private-label bags are 5, 10, or 25 kg, jute or polypropylene, one 40-foot high cube, about 25 metric tons. Saudi retail artwork has to clear SASO before stuffing. That is a product-registration job. It does not change 1006.30 into a different chapter.

Names we will not stretch

We call a lot basmati only when the mill contract and the lab sheet say basmati. The basmati-name page explains why we do not print a geographical-indication logo unless the lot is entitled to it. Super Kernel and 1121 keep the names on their own variety pages.

UK and Canadian basmati moves year-round into Felixstowe, London, or the Canadian distribution the desk names. IRRI is not that cargo. USA rice is a selected-mill basmati program. It skips the mango irradiation path. Your broker still files FDA prior notice. We do not reclassify rice as fruit to put it on a passenger flight.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is basmati a different HS heading from IRRI?
Both are milled rice under 1006.30 when that is what the bag contains. The grade lives in the contract and on the lab sheet. The agent confirms any national split before filing.
We want a lower duty. Can you file head rice as broken?
No. Broken rice is a different heading and a different good. We file the lot we stuffed.
Do you export paddy?
No.
Does private label change the code?
No. The bag size changes the packing list. The heading follows the rice inside the bag.
