Long-grain, non-aromatic, parboiled commodity rice. High-volume staple.

IRRI-6 is the volume staple, parboiled or white, for institutional and commodity programs. Moisture and broken grain are the conversation. Aroma is not.

Name parboiled or white

IRRI-6 can be parboiled, which buyers call sella, or white. Parboiled paddy is soaked, steamed, and dried before milling. The grain is a little yellow, harder, and slower to cook. White rice skips that step. Write the word before the mill run. We will not decide it from the port name.

Broken grain on this grade is the commodity spec on the lab sheet. It is not the 4 percent basmati ceiling and it is not the 3 percent Super Kernel ceiling. Moisture is still max 14 percent. A container of 100 percent brokens is not this product.

Volume, not a boutique bag

A 40-foot box is about 27 metric tons. A 20-foot box is about 24 metric tons. Bulk programs start at about 5,000 metric tons. Packs are 25 kg, 50 kg, or bulk. Private label is possible for a catering brand and is still one high cube, about 25 metric tons.

Saudi Arabia, African programs, and the Iraq grade note are why people ask for IRRI-6. Iraq and Yemen are not country desks. Kenya and Tanzania have their own rice lane. Iran is not a desk. The six buyer desks stay the six desks.

Published markets and grade notes: KSA, Africa, Iraq. A country without a desk starts as an enquiry. It is not an automatic second page.

Phytosanitary, fumigation, Halal, KCCI origin, and the lab sheet for moisture, broken grain, and length travel with the lot. FOB Karachi is the default. CFR is ocean freight to a named port.
