USA fruit is irradiated in Dubai, then flies on. A UAE retail reefer never enters that sentence.
When the buyer is in the United States, Dubai is the irradiation stop. Fruit is packed in APHIS-grade cartons, treated in Dubai under that protocol, and flown toward JFK, LAX, or ORD. The published air timing on that path is about 7–10 days from Karachi through irradiation to JFK or LAX.
A UAE retail program is a different booking: about five days by sea, about two by air, and no irradiation. Say which Dubai you mean in the first message. Canada also uses air via Dubai for gift fruit. That Canadian hop is not this irradiation step.
Who holds which paper
The hop adds documents. It does not move the filing onto our desk.
You hold APHIS
The importer holds the APHIS PPQ permit. We pack to an APHIS-grade carton and send the data, including the irradiation pre-clearance path described on our certifications page as PPQ Form 587.
Your broker files FDA
FDA prior notice is the broker’s filing. We send the data pack in time. We do not file the notice.
What this hop does not unlock
It does not unlock sea freight. It does not put USA rice on the same flight. USA rice is a selected-mill basmati program and skips irradiation. It does not make Australia, Japan, or New Zealand a desk.
Dubai on a USA booking is a stop, not a shop
UAE retail Sindhri and Chaunsa move by sea in about five days with no irradiation. A USA booking uses Dubai only as the irradiation hop, then JFK, LAX, or ORD, in about 7–10 days by air. The carton and the permit change. You hold APHIS. Your broker files FDA prior notice.
Canada may use a Dubai flight and still not use this irradiation rule. The Canadian importer holds CFIA. Sea mango to the United States is refused on this page and on every other page. Hot water at origin remains. It does not replace the hop.
