Retail rice for Saudi Arabia needs SASO paperwork raised with the pack artwork before the container is stuffed. Send the design with the enquiry. Halal is already on every Saudi lot. SASO does not replace it.
The usual grains are Super Kernel and 1121, plus IRRI-6 when the buyer is a commodity or Ramadan program rather than a premium shelf. IRRI is not a basmati label. Private-label sizes are 5 kg, 10 kg, and 25 kg, at one 40-foot high cube, about 25 metric tons.
Ramadan changes the week, not the rule
Rice volumes rise six to eight weeks before Ramadan. Book IRRI-6 and basmati before that rush. A late artwork file misses the slot even when the mill has grain. Jeddah and Dammam are the discharge ports. Riyadh and Madinah are inland markets, not load ports.
Grades we will not relabel
Super Kernel stays Super Kernel. IRRI-6 stays IRRI-6. A SASO file that names the wrong grain will be stopped. UK and Canada basmati programs do not use this Saudi form. They have their own pages.
What SASO needs before the container is stuffed
Send the pack design with the enquiry: 5, 10, or 25 kg, the grade, and whether the rice is white or sella. Super Kernel is 8.4 mm and longer, broken max 3 percent. Wider basmati is about 7.5–8.4 mm, broken max 4 percent. Moisture is max 14 percent. IRRI is a different product and still has to say parboiled or white.
Halal is already on every Saudi lot. SASO does not replace it. Discharge is Jeddah or Dammam. Riyadh is not the port. The private-label minimum is one 40-foot high cube, about 25 metric tons. Qatar does not use this SASO file. A Doha permit is the agent’s, on a different page.
